Mallows Bay NOAA Marine Sanctuary Status And Meetings

Exciting news! On September 16 NOAA issued a “Notice of Intent” to move to the next and critical phase in the process for designating Mallows Bay – Potomac River as a new National Marine Sanctuary.

Our continued help is needed to make the Sanctuary a reality.

NOAA has scheduled two public meetings to solicit public comments, concerns, and our vision for the proposed new sanctuary.  The meetings will be held
  • Wednesday,  November 4, 2015 
    (open house 6:30-7 pm; official program and public comments 7-9 pm)

We are urged to attend and participate in these meetings and to tell NOAA officials why we support and endorse this designation, the kinds of activities we would like to see at the Sanctuary and how we would envision it being managed.
